Job Title: Barista (Full-Day Shifts) + Cat Cafe Host
Location: Meow Parlour – New York, NY
Hours: 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM or 7:30 PM
Position Type: Barista 2-3 shifts per week + host 1-2 shifts per week

Meow Parlour is New York City's first cat café, combining the joy of fresh-baked treats with the company of adorable adoptable cats. We're passionate about creating a welcoming, cozy experience for every guest — both two- and four-legged!

About the Role:

We are seeking a reliable, friendly, and self-motivated Barista to join our café team. In this solo shift role, you’ll be responsible for baking cookie dough, preparing drinks, serving customers, and keeping the café running smoothly throughout the day. You'll serve guests both through a street-facing kiosk window and manage orders placed through a self-service kiosk (Square POS).

Barista Responsibilities:

  • Open and set up the café each morning.

  • Bake off cookie dough and other simple treats for daily service.

  • Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages.

  • Take and process orders from both the walk-up window and the self-service Square kiosk.

  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting café environment throughout your shift.

  • Monitor inventory and communicate needs (baking ingredients, drink supplies, etc.).

  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.

  • Engage warmly with customers and help promote a positive café experience.

  • Close down the café at the end of the day, including cleaning and basic restocking.

Host Responsibilities:

  • Check in guests - including those with reservations and walk-ins.

  • Maintain the lobby and retail area.

  • Handle transactions.

  • Feed and clean after the cat(s) in the front window as well as any cats in our basement.

  • Accept deliveries and handle foster or adopter pick-ups

Requirements:

  • Current Food Handler’s License (New York City certification required).

  • Barista experience preferred but not required — we are willing to train the right candidate.

  • Comfortable working independently and managing an entire shift solo.

  • Strong time management skills; able to juggle multiple tasks and engage with customers without supervision.

  • Friendly, professional demeanor and customer service mindset.

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Must love cats — you'll be working just a few steps away from them every day!

Compensation:

  • $19/hour plus tips.
